Senior Information Governance Specialist II (eDiscovery Practitioner) Position Overview The Senior Information Governance Specialist II (eDiscovery Practitioner) plays a critical role within the Information Governance (IG) team, supporting internal data collection and electronic discovery (eDiscovery) initiatives. This position focuses on conducting defensible internal data collections for high-visibility matters, ensuring the organization's data is collected, preserved, and managed in a manner that protects information integrity, supports compliance, and reduces organizational risk. Reporting to the Information Governance Manager for Internal Collections, this role collaborates closely with attorneys, paralegals, business professionals, IT teams, and senior stakeholders. The position requires strong technical expertise in eDiscovery tools and processes, the ability to manage complex data collection projects, and a commitment to delivering a high level of service. Key Responsibilities Information Collection & eDiscovery Execution • Conduct defensible data collections from internal data sources in response to subpoenas, Requests for Production (RFPs), and other internal requests. • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance throughout the electronic discovery lifecycle. Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory Support • Partner with legal teams, administrative staff, and business stakeholders to define custodians, data sources, and collection scope. • Translate complex eDiscovery and information governance concepts into clear, actionable guidance. Technology & Tool Utilization • Search, collect, process, and export data using tools such as Relativity, email archive platforms, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Purview, and iManage Document Management System (DMS). • Adapt to new technologies and systems as they are introduced. Relativity Workspace Management • Prepare and process data for review within Relativity. • Manage indexing, batching, searching, exports, and productions. • Troubleshoot processing issues and resolve data errors. Risk Identification & Escalation • Identify potential information governance risks and conflicts between data sources and request requirements. • Escalate issues appropriately to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with IT, litigation technology teams, risk management leadership, and external vendors to support data collections, reviews, and productions. Process Improvement & Documentation • Assist in developing and maintaining procedures, workflows, and best practices related to internal data collections and information governance operations. Training & User Support • Provide training and ongoing support to legal and business professionals on litigation technology tools and information governance processes. Operational Responsiveness • Manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Provide support outside of standard business hours when necessary. Qualifications Education • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. Experience • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on electronic discovery experience. • Prior experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment strongly preferred. Technical Expertise • Advanced experience with Relativity, including workspace creation, data processing, complex searching, review setup, and productions. • Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) strongly preferred. • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel). • Experience with tools such as Notepad++, UltraEdit, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. • Preferred experience with email archives, iManage DMS, Microsoft Purview, SharePoint, and structured data tools.
