[Remote] Claims Specialist, Accident Benefits, Level 1
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group is a property & casualty mutual insurer focused on providing exceptional service and a human connection in the insurance industry. They are seeking a Claims Specialist Level 1 to review, analyze, evaluate, and negotiate minor to moderate claims related to Accident Benefits, while managing the effective resolution of these claims.
Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, evaluate and negotiate Accident Benefits claims
- Investigate losses and assign independent adjusters and experts
- Interpret coverage, evaluate claims, and manage reserves and payments
- Communicate with insured’s, brokers, and legal representatives
- Meet expectations on turnaround times for claim handling and resolution
- Support training and mentorship of support staff
Skills
- Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma is required
- Working knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule
- Working understanding of benefit entitlement, loss transfer and WSIB issues
- Ability to read and interpret policy wordings including OAP and OPCF endorsements
- Strong computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Internet navigation
- Effective communication skills: verbal, non-verbal and written
- Thorough attention to detail and ability to perform moderate mathematical calculations
- Working towards the CIP designation
