Awayday is seeking a Content Manager who owns the execution, quality control, and operational management of Awayday’s website content strategy. This role manages freelance writers, supports scalable content systems, contributes to landing page and blog development as needed, supports search engine optimization, and monitors performance to drive measurable organic growth.

 

While organic search is a primary focus, this role also supports broader marketing performance by strengthening landing page quality, improving engagement, and enhancing conversion-driven content across channels.


The Content Manager is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the website content strategy for Awayday Brands across the US. This role manages content production, oversees freelance writers, and ensures all content is published, optimized, and aligned with SEO and brand standards.


Working under the direction of the SEO Manager, the Content Manager oversees freelance writers, supports scalable content systems, contributes to landing page and blog development as needed, supports search engine optimization, and monitors performance to drive measurable organic growth. This role is highly execution-focused, with an emphasis on organization, quality control, and consistency.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Content Production & Writer Management (~40%)
• Develop content calendars. 
• Manage freelance writers and content contributors.
• Develop detailed content briefs aligned with SEO strategy and business priorities.
• Perform QA review to ensure brand voice alignment, SEO compliance, formatting consistency, and internal linking standards.
• Provide structured feedback to improve writer performance and output quality.
• Write blog content, landing pages, and promotional pages as needed.
• Support landing page development in collaboration with the Website Operations Manager.
• Create and refine templates for blogs, landing pages, hub pages, and promotional pages.

 

SEO Execution (As Directed) (~35%)
• Conduct keyword research to identify new content and SEO opportunities.
• Strengthen content credibility through EEAT best practices. 
• Implement meta titles, descriptions, and header optimizations.
• Develop and maintain internal linking frameworks to improve crawlability and distribute authority across key pages.
• Analyze SERPs to ensure content aligns with search intent and evolving ranking factors.
• Optimize content for featured snippets, People Also Ask, and other SERP features.
• Recommend URL structures for new pages and content hubs.
• Structure and optimize pages to improve performance across modern search experiences, including answer-first formats and AI-driven discovery
• Add image alt text and refine on-page formatting.
• Execute redirects and merging strategies in collaboration with the SEO/website team.
• Support Google Business Profile updates and local listings.
• Implement Schema Structured Data.
• Identify basic technical SEO issues (duplicate content, broken links, indexing issues, page bloat).

 

Publishing, Content Updates & Cross-Channel Support (~10%)
• Publish blog posts, hub pages, and landing page updates in the CMS.
• Add events and link to relevant property pages.
• Assist with updates to promotional pages and campaign-related content.
• Monitor and respond to channel-specific content requests through ClickUp.
• Support cross-channel initiatives requiring content updates or adjustments.

 

Performance Monitoring & Optimization (~5%)
• Monitor GA4 landing page traffic, primarily Organic Search.
• Track performance of blogs, hub pages, and landing pages.
• Identify underperforming content and recommend refreshes, expansions, or consolidation.
• Flag keyword cannibalization and structural overlap.

 

Competitor Research & Content Strategy Support (~5%)
• Conduct competitor content analysis and SERP research.
• Identify ranking gaps and content expansion opportunities.
• Provide recommendations for new landing pages, blog topics, and hub content.
• Support seasonal and acquisition-driven content planning.

 

Project Management, AI Development & Documentation (~5%)
• Manage content workflows and requests in ClickUp.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for content creation, publishing, optimization, and updates.
• Develop AI prompts, knowledge bases, and workflow systems to improve efficiency and content quality.
• Train internal team members and contractors on AI-assisted content processes and best practices.
• Document SEO updates and content changes within SEO tools and internal systems.
• Maintain industry knowledge by staying current on SEO trends, AI tools, and evolving content best practices.

 

Success in This Role Looks Like
• Consistent, high-quality content aligned with SEO and business priorities that leads to increases in keyword visibility, traffic, and revenue. 
• Improved production efficiency through scalable templates and AI-assisted workflows.
• Clear content consolidation and optimization recommendations based on GA4 insights.
• Strong collaboration with Website Operations and SEO team to ensure seamless implementation.
• Reliable publishing cadence and organized content systems.


Requirements & Qualifications
• 2–5 years of experience in SEO, content marketing, or digital content management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple content streams and deadlines simultaneously.
• Proven experience managing content production workflows and working with freelance or contract writers.
• Familiarity with modern search trends, including AI-driven search experiences and answer-first content formats.
• Comfort working with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or similar) to support content creation and workflows.
• Strong understanding of on-page SEO best practices, including keyword research, search intent, internal linking, and content structure.
• Experience implementing SEO elements such as meta tags, headers, alt text, and basic schema markup.
• Experience using SEMrush, ScreamingFrog, GA4, Google Search Console, or similar tools 
• Experience using project management tools (e.g., ClickUp specifically is a bonus).
• Experience developing or following SOPs for content production, publishing, and optimization.
• Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
• Experience working cross-functionally with SEO, marketing, and web teams.
• Familiarity with conversion rate best practices.

 

Nice to Have
• Experience in travel, hospitality, or vacation rental businesses.
• Experience with local SEO and Google Business Profile optimization.
• Familiarity with structured data/schema implementation.
