How Will You Make an Impact in This Role?

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join arenaflex as our Director of Client Management – Virtual. This is a exceptional opportunity to shape the future of our merchant relationships in the Southern California region while leading a high-performing team of senior client managers. As the Director of Account Development and Client Management, you will oversee a substantial portfolio of merchant relationships with companies headquartered across Southern California. Your portfolio represents a diverse mix of clients spanning both B2B and B2C sectors, offering you the opportunity to work with a wide range of industries and business models. This role places you at the forefront of arenaflex's merchant services division, where you will be responsible for driving revenue growth, strengthening client relationships, and leading a team of talented professionals toward shared success.

What You'll Do

In this pivotal leadership role, you will:

  • Lead a High-Performing Team: Direct and mentor a team of 5 senior client managers, supporting them in managing, deepening, and improving relationships with over 400 respected brands across the Southern California region. You will be instrumental in developing their skills, enhancing their performance, and fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Develop, lead, and motivate your team to retain and drive incremental business across both B2B and B2C segments. Your focus will be on growing revenue and improving market share within your assigned merchant portfolio.
  • Cultivate Team Excellence: Foster a culture of continuous learning, strong challenger coaching skills, and consultative relationship management. You will serve as a mentor and role model, helping your team members develop the expertise needed to deliver exceptional value to our merchants.
  • Strengthen Business Relationships: Lead your team in maintaining and strengthening arenaflex's business by showcasing value propositions, growing revenue, improving share of wallet, and increasing profitability across the merchant portfolio.
  • Stay Ahead of Industry Trends: Embrace the fast-changing payments landscape and stay current with payment trends, economic indicators, and competitive dynamics. Use your insights to anticipate market shifts and position arenaflex as a leader in the industry.
  • Develop Strategic Partnerships: Partner with internal colleagues across departments to seek out and develop partnership and marketing assets that will be relevant and valuable to your customer base.
  • Model Leadership Behaviors: Demonstrate key sales behaviors and skills while balancing deal coaching with skill development. Your ability to lead by example will inspire your team to achieve their best work.
  • Maximize Merchant Satisfaction and Profitability: Increase merchant satisfaction scores and maximize profits through an enterprise-level approach to account management and strategic planning.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience managing high-performing sales or client management teams
  • Track record of driving revenue growth and improving market share in competitive environments
  • Strong expertise in B2B and B2C client relationship management
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring abilities with a focus on developing talent
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance short-term wins with long-term objectives
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working in matrix organizations and collaborating across functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the payments, fintech, or financial services industry
  • Deep understanding of merchant services and acquiring landscapes
  • Experience managing large portfolios with significant revenue responsibility
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing client strategies
  • MBA or advanced degree in business or related discipline
  • Experience working with diverse client bases across multiple industries
  • Proven track record of leading teams through periods of growth and transformation
