Role Summary: What You'll Do as a Family Support Specialist
As a Family Support Specialist at arenaflex, you will serve as a vital link between families and the community resources they need to succeed. Your primary responsibility is to empower families who have found permanency—whether through reintegration with biological families, adoption, custodianship, guardianship, or as youth who have aged out of the foster care system.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Resource Connection: Identify and connect families with appropriate community resources, including healthcare services, educational programs, housing assistance, counseling services, and support groups tailored to their unique needs.
- Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of families and children to ensure they receive the services and support they deserve. This includes communicating with service providers, schools, healthcare professionals, and government agencies.
- Empowerment Coaching: Work collaboratively with families to develop skills and strategies that enable them to sustain their achievements independently over time. Your guidance will help families build resilience and self-sufficiency.
- Case Management: Maintain accurate and detailed records of family interactions, service plans, and progress. Document all services provided and ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Crisis Support: Respond to emergent situations with empathy and professionalism, providing immediate support and connecting families with emergency resources when needed.
- Home Visits and Assessments: Conduct home visits to assess family dynamics, safety, and overall well-being. Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to support family growth.
- Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, supervisors, and external partners to coordinate comprehensive services and ensure holistic support for each family.
- Continuous Learning: Participate in ongoing training, professional development opportunities, and team meetings to enhance your skills and stay current with best practices in child welfare services.
