**Key Responsibilities**
As an Experienced Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for:
* Providing information to the public, customers, or visitors in person, by telephone, and/or by mail, regarding water and sewer accounts, tax bills, library materials/operations, birth and death certificates, various events, activities, and exhibits.
* Responding to questions and resolving issues related to customer accounts, tax information, birth and death certificates, zoo or library operations, and other related matters.
* Assisting callers with scheduling tours or visits, and promoting the children's zoo by serving as a liaison between the zoo and schools.
* Scheduling instructors to visit area schools and conduct education classes about the zoo, and making reservations for schools, publishing group visits, and special events scheduled for the zoo and aquarium.
* Collecting payments from group visitors, and providing information to the public or customers calling in on the telephones, and referring non-city related calls to proper outside agencies.
* Logging, routing, tracking, coding, and entering requests received from citizens for processing, researching a variety of complaints and/or requests to respond to citizen inquiries.
* Receiving and routing incoming calls, providing quality directory assistance to citizens and city employees, and operating a computer to access the telephone directory to provide required information.
* Maintaining a log of incoming calls for record according to procedures, and filing various documents to maintain records.
**Essential Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A high school diploma or equivalent.
* Two (2) years of customer service experience requiring heavy phone/public contact, which involved cashiering, data entry, analyzing accounts, and/or complaint resolution.
* PC/data entry skills and effective communication skills.
* English/Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.
* Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in customer service.
* Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with members of the public who may be irate or impatient.
* Knowledge of policies and procedures related to billing, payment, and adjustment of accounts, tax records, library procedures, and birth and death certificates.
* Knowledge of the computer system used in assigned area.
* Ability to make decisions.
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Valid driver's license with a good driving record (for some positions).
* Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in customer service.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
**Working Conditions & Hazards**
This role is performed under normal office conditions, with minimal physical demands and hazards.
