• Global Medical Response (GMR) is proud to be an authorized provider of the DOD SkillBridge program, offering Service Members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience in the medical response industry through training and internships.
Under the SkillBridge program, GMR hosts active-duty U.S. Military members for skilled employment training during the final six months of their active-duty obligated service. The SkillBridge Program with GMR will run for up to 180-days.
Job Description The Regional Clinical Safety Specialist reports to the Regional Manager of Clinical Safety and works closely with them to oversee clinical safety and risk‑management initiatives within the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Collaborative Just Culture framework. This role focuses on creating and refining processes that support safe patient care while promoting a culture of learning, improvement, teamwork, and accountability.
Utilizing industry best practices and regulatory standards, the specialist proactively identifies emerging risks and operational hazards, collaborates with teams across the organization to assess risks and develop tailored mitigation strategies, and fosters continuous improvement through effective incident‑reporting processes. By engaging employees at all levels, the specialist ensures clinical safety procedures are understood and integrated into everyday operations to help prevent harm to both patients and clinicians.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Reliability
• Triage, categorization, assignment and follow up of reported safety events & up chain notifications
• Perform structured fact gathering and timeline development using organizational High Reliability process.
• Facilitate low-to-moderate severity event reviews and engages in high severity events under the direction of the Patient Safety Manager.
• Ensure accurate documentation within the event management system
• Monitor CAPA implementation and follow-up
• Support local safety meetings and field engagement initiatives
• Identify recurring system vulnerabilities and escalate appropriately
Data & Risk Intelligence
• Analyze event trends by operational, clinical, and environmental factors
• Prepare monthly and quarterly clinical safety summaries
• Support predictive risk identification efforts
Leadership Development
• Participate in regional and cross-functional safety meetings
• Support in presenting safety trend analyses to operational leaders
• Engage in professional development related to SMS, patient safety science, human factors, and reliability principles
Minimum Qualifications
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Three (3) years of full-time EMS operations experience (>30 hours/week)
• Current EMS credential/license or Nursing license
• Demonstrated experience in field leadership roles (e.g., FTO, preceptor, shift lead, or equivalent)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to interpret operational policy and regulatory guidance
• Collaborative High Reliability Level 3 training within one year of hire
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, or related field
• Experience in healthcare quality improvement and safety programs
• Working knowledge of Power BI
• Experience participating in structured event review or root cause analysis
• Advanced clinical certification (FP-C, CFRN, etc.) preferred
• Experience working in complex operational or high-acuity environments
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Ability to apply systems thinking to operational and clinical events
• Working knowledge of human factors principles
• Ability to analyze data trends and communicate findings clearly
• Strong facilitation skills in multidisciplinary settings
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
• Professional discretion and judgment consistent with Just Culture principles
