Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality video remote interpretation services for patients and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate and effective communication.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Adapt quickly to new technologies and platforms, completing training and readiness checks as required.
- Participate in ongoing quality assurance and call monitoring programs to ensure continuous improvement.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Fluent in both source and target languages, with strong verbal communication skills.
- Successful completion of a medical language proficiency assessment, focusing on interpreter protocols and medical terminology.
- Demonstrated respect and understanding of Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients' cultures, dialects, and beliefs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of professional medical interpreting experience in the US.
- National interpreting certification (CCHI or CMI).
- Degree or certification in interpreting practices.
- Accredited Medical Interpreting Training course (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio).
- Extensive knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, and NCIHC).
Work Environment and Benefits
- Private home office setup with high-speed internet connection required.
- Competitive salary: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications).
- Part-time schedule: 20-28 hours per week.
