Managing Director and Assistant General Counsel, Litigation - Lead Litigation Efforts for the Commercial Aviation Industry
Job Summary:
Airlines for America (A4A) seeks a highly skilled and experienced litigation attorney to join our dynamic team of in-house counsel as Managing Director and Assistant General Counsel, Litigation. As a key member of our Office of the General Counsel, you will lead cutting-edge litigation efforts for the commercial aviation industry, working closely with industry subject matter experts and member airlines. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the industry, working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice and counsel to A4A on aviation litigation matters, including legal challenges to federal regulations, state laws, and international litigation.
- Develop and execute strategic litigation plans to preempt harmful regulations at the state and local level.
- Collaborate with Deputy General Counsels for Litigation and International Legal Affairs on domestic and international litigation matters.
- Remain current with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including the Railway Labor Act, Federal Aviation Act, and Airline Deregulation Act.
- Manage and partner with outside litigation counsel in a strategic and cost-effective manner.
- Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 30%).
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills.
- 7+ years of experience in litigation, preferably in the aviation industry.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
