Director, Aircraft Configuration Management

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Director, Aircraft Configuration Management to join our team at American Airlines. As a leader in the aviation industry, we are committed to providing exceptional service and ensuring the highest level of safety and quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the vision, strategic direction, and daily operations of the Aircraft Acquisitions, Aircraft Configuration Management, and Engineering Services organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach a team of senior managers, team leaders, and staff on career development and advancement
  • Establish and maintain influential relationships with aircraft manufacturers regarding new aircraft
  • Implement OpEx Lean/Six Sigma tools and techniques to drive transformation
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, technical excellence, and professionalism that supports the company's goals
  • Ensure training programs and standards are established and conducted for each group within the area of responsibility
  • Communicate with individuals or groups both inside and outside of Integrated Operations to promote cooperation in achieving departmental and divisional objectives
  • Support revenue and operational targets

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training
  • 7 years of management experience, supervising large workgroups with cross-functional teams, as well as managing and coaching teams
  • 10 years of aircraft industry experience
  • Results-driven leader with a natural ability to engage employees in different workgroups
  • Excellent project planning and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively and simultaneously manage multiple large projects within tight deadlines and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain the highest level of safety
  • Ability to travel extensively
