Payroll Associate - Department of Finance

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, process, and audit employee time reports to ensure accuracy and completeness, adhering to internal payroll rules and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Post pay, tax, and benefit changes, maintaining up-to-date records and ensuring seamless payroll operations.
- Balance and reconcile employee time reporting and payroll accounting records, meeting agency, city, and other processing requirements.
- Provide reports detailing labor-related data to supervisors and managers, supporting informed decision-making.
- Consult with employees and supervisors to explain and interpret payroll rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve payroll problems, analyzing time and attendance data, and making corrections as needed.
- Research variances in payroll policy applications, correcting errors and oversights to maintain compliance and accuracy.
- Audit employee pay, benefits, deductions, and leave accruals upon separation, ensuring a smooth transition.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate).
- Three years of clerical/technical experience in payroll processing activities.
- Valid Driver's License at the time of application.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with processing FMLA Leave cases.
- Experience with processing ADA (Americans with Disabilities) Leave cases.
- Familiarity with FMLA Federal Rules.
- Experience processing Military Leave and Pay.
- Experience processing Workers Compensation.
- Experience processing Leave of Absences.
- Experience with Standard Insurance and high-volume request processing.
