Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at our Walgreens location in Barberton, OH. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in providing patient care and customer service to our patients and customers. You will work closely with our pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care.

Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including counting, measuring, and labeling medications.
  • Process prescriptions, including verifying patient information, checking for potential interactions, and ensuring that medications are dispensed correctly.
  • Provide patient education and counseling on medication use, side effects, and potential interactions.
  • Answer patient and customer questions, provide information on medications and health-related topics, and resolve customer complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medication lists and allergy information.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring and reporting on patient satisfaction and medication errors.
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking medications and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist or pharmacy manager.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT certification required; PTCB or ExCPT recertification required every 2 years.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, customers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and move quickly and efficiently in a retail environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Experience with pharmacy software and technology, including automated dispensing systems and electronic health records.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Experience with patient education and counseling, including medication therapy management and disease state management.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, including Spanish, Chinese, or other languages commonly spoken in the local community.
