Job Summary
The mission of the Information Stage group at Reddit is to empower data-driven decision making. As a Principal Engineer, Data Platform, you will help architect significant pieces of the ingestion, data processing, storage, and stability layers to bring data insights to scientific and product leadership. You will also mentor other engineers and be the primary point of contact for any challenges in the design of the engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design and development of the data climate and make it scale to the next 3-4 years of continued growth and development of Reddit.
- Identify gaps in current designs and lead updates of the Data Platform to improve Engineer Speed and Reddit growth.
- Mentor backend engineers across the organization.
- Be the primary point of contact for engineers on complex issues in backend service development.
Who You May Be
To be successful in this role, you should have a deep understanding of how to build a sustainable data climate at a large-scale engineering organization. You should also have experience influencing larger (500+ engineers) organizations on technical direction and best practices. A passion for creating adaptable, well-designed software that improves engineers' lives while consistently supporting scale and reliability is essential.
