Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Patient Account Analyst II to join our Customer Service and Billing Operations team. As a Patient Account Analyst II, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our billing and customer service functions. This is a remote position that offers the flexibility to work from the comfort of your own home after completing the initial training period. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of registration, billing, follow-up, and collection functions for all payers, including self-pay, to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient accounts.
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorization for scheduled services to minimize delays and ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Contact patients for necessary information pertaining to registration, billing, and collection, providing exceptional customer service and support throughout the process.
  • Process financial assistance applications and review accounts for outside collection or legal authorization, ensuring compliance with billing regulations and corporate compliance plans.
  • Resolve inquiries received pertaining to patient accounts, providing clear and concise explanations and solutions to patients and internal stakeholders.
  • Post payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts, reconciling electronic payment remittances and reviewing debits, credits, refunds, bad debt, and contractual allowances for accuracy.
  • Act as a liaison to outside vendors, working collaboratively to resolve issues and improve processes, and provide feedback to management on issues that impede timeliness or quality of billing.
  • Independently review assigned reports to ensure goals and deadlines are met, and assist management with training new staff to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to exceptional customer service and teamwork.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in medical registration, billing, customer service, or collection.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately and independently solve problems, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including input and retrieval of information, and operation of a calculator, fax machine, and copier.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage large volumes of work, quickly learning and retaining information regarding issues that present themselves.
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service, with a strong focus on patient satisfaction and care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a remote or virtual work environment, with a proven track record of success in a customer-facing role.
  • Knowledge of billing regulations and corporate compliance plans, with experience in lockbox reconciliation and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues and improve processes.
  • Experience with training and mentoring new staff, with a commitment to knowledge sharing and team development.
  • Certification in medical billing or a related field, with a strong understanding of healthcare operations and patient care principles.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $31,200 - $57,200 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
