Tunnel Engineer II
Mott MacDonald is a global engineering, management, and development consultancy. They are seeking a Tunnel Engineer II to undertake tunnel, structural, and geotechnical work on various projects, including the design of underground structures and performing geotechnical field investigations.
Responsibilities
- Undertake tunnel, structural, and geotechnical work on a variety of projects, including the design of underground structures, building foundations, tunnels, micro-tunnels, and other trenchless methods
- Produce calculations reports, specifications, and drawings
- Receive initial instruction, and advice from supervisor; technical adequacy of completed work is checked
- Perform geotechnical field investigations for underground construction projects
- Prepare field records, notes and reports
- Develop numerical models to support design development for tunnels and related ancillary facilities (numerical models will include Plaxis, SAP2000, and similar applications)
- Perform assessment of subsurface conditions as well as the development of numerical modeling and basis of design reports
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering, or a directly related field
- One (1) year of experience as a Tunnel Engineer, or a related occupation
- One (1) year of experience in structural analysis of underground structures using software and/or hand calculations
- One (1) year of experience in engineering mathematics applied in the fields of geotechnical or structural engineering
- One (1) year of experience in the design of concrete structures
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification required
