Engineering Technician
The Commonwealth of PA is seeking an Engineering Technician for the Department of Environmental Protection. This role involves assisting a survey team on mining projects and operating various survey instruments to gather essential data.
Responsibilities
- Assist an instrument man or rodman within a survey team focused on mining projects
- Operate various survey instruments such as total stations, EDMs, theodolites, transits, and levels to gather essential survey data
- Help manage high-accuracy geospatial equipment, including radios, receivers, controllers, and base stations
- Utilize survey software to generate control reports and calculate coordinates, elevations, angles, and distances
- Record, verify, and analyze field notes
- Conduct field visits to county courthouses to gather vital project information, including surface and mineral ownership and deed descriptions
Skills
- An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree
- Possession of a valid PA Class C driver's license
- Must meet the PA residency requirement
- Must be able to perform essential job functions
