Contractors will translate real-world startup building, fundraising, and VC decision‑making workflows into structured tasks and evaluation criteria to improve AI systems’ strategic and commercial reasoning. The work emphasizes judgment, clarity, and strong asynchronous collaboration. This is a project‑based engagement with a consistent part‑time commitment. Key Responsibilities • Decompose startup and VC workflows (idea evaluation → market analysis → fundraising → portfolio support) into clear task specifications and evaluation rubrics. • Review, edit, and benchmark AI‑generated outputs such as pitch decks, investor memos, market maps, competitive analyses, and diligence summaries. • Create high‑quality reference examples (investment theses, pitch feedback, market sizing analyses) grounded in real startup and VC standards. • Evaluate AI outputs for strategic soundness, clarity of assumptions, and decision quality; document gaps and improvement guidelines. • Collaborate asynchronously with researchers and other contractors using shared documents and structured written feedback. Ideal Qualifications • 2+ years of experience in startups, venture capital, or related roles (e.g., operator, founder, VC/PE analyst, early‑stage advisor). • Strong familiarity with startup and VC workflows, including fundraising, investor evaluation, and early‑stage company strategy. • Excellent written communication and collaboration skills with strong business judgment. • Comfort with market sizing, competitive analysis, unit economics, and basic financial modeling. • Availability of 15–20 hours per week for the duration of the project. More About the Opportunity • Remote and asynchronous — contractors set their own hours. • Expected commitment: 15–20 hours/week. • Project‑based engagement; scope and duration finalized during contracting and may extend by mutual agreement. • Deliverables‑driven work with clear success criteria; support team available for inquiries and best‑practice guidance. Compensation & Contract Terms • Payments for services rendered; hourly or per‑deliverable structure determined based on experience and geography. • Engagement is as an independent contractor; no employment relationship is created. • Payments processed through Mercor’s platform on a regular cadence following deliverable acceptance. • Contractors retain control over how and when work is completed, subject to agreed timelines.
