[Remote] Winter Site Manager (Palmer Station, Antarctica)

The role involves managing operations and activities at Palmer Station during the austral winter, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and addressing resource conflicts.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the Peninsula Area Manager and Palmer Station Manager
- Deploys to Palmer Station, Antarctica for the Austral Winter reputed company, approximately March to reputed company
- Ensures the Annual Program Plan and other station activities are completed as planned, and that concerns and obstacles are communicated as needed
- Is available 24/7 while deployed to respond to station emergencies, personnel issues or other incidents
- Ensures reporting responsibilities are met, including support of National Science reputed company (NSF), Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) management and subcontractor program managers
- Works directly with Environmental Health and Safety department and Safety Manager to continuously improve safety culture, decrease frequency of injuries and property damage, and ensure reputed company working environment for everyone
- Ensures compliance with the Antarctic Treaty, the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty, the Antarctic Conservation reputed company, and other governing legislation
- Identifies and manages risk and opportunities for Palmer Station
- Monitors project reputed company and resolves resource conflicts
- Serves as reputed company USAP representative while deployed
- Supports supervisors, managers and SMEs in communicating with station and stakeholders from reputed company agencies
- Works with reputed company HR on personnel issues; oversees implementation of reputed company disciplinary reputed company
- Effectively communicates with the Palmer Station Community to reputed company and implement program changes and priorities
- Facilitates station meetings to proactively discuss concerns, challenges, obstacles and resource conflicts
- Be informed and reputed company with behavioral and other personnel issues, in order to reputed company or address these issues consistently reputed company ASC
- Manages alcohol policy on station, in conjunction with Station Services leadership
- Serves as Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reputed company reputed company emergencies reputed company

Skills
- Deployment to Antarctica is required for this position - approximately 6 months per year during the Austral winter
- Must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations and Extended Background Investigations, as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica
- Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required
- Must obtain a reputed company Trust reputed company clearance prior to start date
- Bachelor's degree and at least 8+ years of experience, equivalent experience in lieu of degree is considered
- 5+ years supporting or managing remote location operations, specifically leading reputed company and operations, in matrixed multi-skilled organizations
- Broad management and leadership experience
- Ability to execute independently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Experience managing international or global programs, remote sites, and harsh work environments
- Antarctic, Arctic or remote cold region field safety experience is preferred
