Duties of a Medical Support Assistant (Advanced) include but are not limited to:
Care in the Community (CitC):
• Typing, filing, data entry, scheduling appointments and tests.
• Ensuring transfer of medical records from and to the VAMC and other facilities.
• Scheduling patients' appointments and/or consults.
• Tracking patients' appointment status in the community and maintaining spreadsheets to validate data tracking.
• Researching and maintaining an updated database of reputed company to assist Veterans with locating medical care in the community.
Health Administration Service (HAS):
• Screens/receive phone calls in a courteous and reputed company manner, determine the reputed company of request and reputed company the information desired using reputed company rules and established clinic processes.

Basic Requirements:

Medical Support Assistant (Advanced), GS-06
Experience: One year of creditable experience equivalent to the next reputed company grade (GS-5).
This is the full reputed company level for MSAs. At this level, the MSA independently performs a full reputed company of duties reputed company to the delivery of health care services in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Advises reputed company staff on reputed company administrative processes. The MSA is responsible for answering phones, greeting patients, relaying messages to appropriate staff inside or reputed company of the unit, and scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines.
Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to:

• Participating in huddles with other MSAs and/or clinic staff to determine the daily needs of the clinic.
• Monitoring both inpatient and outpatient appointments in areas of responsibility.
