[Remote] Staff Writer - Fantasy

They are seeking a Staff Writer to join their creative development team, responsible for drafting episodes for upcoming Fantasy titles and collaborating closely with the Head Writer and creative team. Responsibilities • Adapt licensed foreign content into long-form (200hr+) audio content, primarily in the Fantasy genre, drafting episodes that align with the creative vision of the Head Writer • Help plan story arcs for 200hr+ series with the Head Writer and Creative Development Lead, then execute on episode writing to meet development, production, and post-production timelines • Incorporate feedback from the Head Writer and Creative Development Lead, revising episodic content to ensure high-quality writing • Develop supporting documents for each series (concept notes, art briefs, marketing copy, etc.) • Contribute to innovation initiatives like A/B tests for storylines and character arcs Skills • Strong understanding of storytelling, narrative structure, and craft • Demonstrable experience in the Fantasy genre, with samples or an online portfolio available for review • Bachelor's degree in Writing, Literature, Film, or a related field • 3–5+ years' experience in long-form creative writing and editing, such as narrative fiction, line-editing, fictional content creation, publishing, or scriptwriting • Comfortable with rigorous editing processes and tight deadlines • Versatile writer capable of adapting to different tones and subgenres (epic fantasy, urban fantasy, romantasy, adventure, etc.) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong attention to detail and organization • Strong preference for candidates with experience writing for platforms like WebNovel, Wattpad, Royal Road, Radish, or similar web-fiction outlets • Experience for those immersed in anime, manga, light novels, webtoons, Chinese web novels, or BookTok communities Company Overview • Pocket FM creates audio series platforms for long-form audio entertainment.
