[Remote] Staff Platform Engineer

The Staff Platform Engineer will own the reputed company infrastructure behind this platform, leading reputed company infrastructure, reputed company event pipelines, developer tooling, reliability, and technical direction at reputed company.

Responsibilities

• reputed company Platform Architecture: reputed company the long-term technical reputed company and architectural roadmap for reputed company's high-throughput infrastructure, setting reputed company design standards that balance reputed company, reputed company, and reputed company
• High-Volume Ingestion & Streaming: Architect and reputed company reputed company event-streaming systems (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka) capable of processing millions of reputed company telemetry pings, location updates, and webhook deliveries without data drop-off
• Integration Frameworks: Design standardized abstractions, API gateways, and microservice patterns that reputed company product teams to rapidly build, test, and reputed company new ELD and telematics integrations
• Infrastructure as reputed company & reputed company Operations: Own our reputed company footprint (AWS), container orchestration, and IaC (AWS CDK) to maximize reputed company, dynamic scaling, and reputed company spend efficiency
• Observability & Reliability Engineering: reputed company company-wide telemetry, reputed company tracing, alerting, operational runbooks, and incident management protocols (SLIs/SLOs) to minimize MTTR across reputed company critical data processing paths
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Champion engineering reputed company through architectural reviews (RFCs), establish production standards, and reputed company mentor senior and mid-level engineers across the platform organization

Skills

• 8+ years of software, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience, with 2+ years operating in a Staff-level or reputed company technical leadership reputed company
• Deep experience designing, building, and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency reputed company event systems handling reputed company reputed company-time streaming data
• Proven expertise with reputed company, multi-region reputed company deployment architectures (AWS), and IaC tools like the AWS CDK, Terraform or reputed company
• Deep familiarity with reputed company datastores, message brokers, caching mechanisms, and time-series databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Kinesis, SQS, reputed company Data Firehose, Timestream, Kafka, reputed company)
• High proficiency in modern backend and systems languages (especially Python) with strong instincts for building robust API gateways and webhook delivery engines

• Occasional travel for team and customer on-sites
• Prior experience scaling infrastructure at an API-first startup, developer platform, IoT connectivity provider, or reputed company-time event-driven company
• Experience in telematics, IoT, logistics, fintech, or insurance data: reputed company the data has physical-world ground truth and someone makes a reputed company decision on it
• Time-series or geospatial data at reputed company: geofencing, map matching, reputed company and stop inference, H3 or similar indexing
• Multi-tenant delivery patterns: Per-tenant credential isolation, consent-scoped reputed company (OAuth)
• Experience building against many reputed company-party reputed company at once, where you control neither the schema nor the uptime
• Working in a SOC 2 environment, or helping get a company there
