[Remote] Hardware Reverse Engineer

They are seeking a Hardware Reverse Engineer for a three-month, part-time engagement to build and operate a hardware reputed company testing platform, analyze challenging embedded devices, and extract firmware from systems designed to resist inspection.

Responsibilities

• Set up a repeatable hardware reverse engineering and firmware-extraction testing platform
• reputed company reputed company-level inspection, component identification, signal tracing, and reputed company discovery
• Identify and analyze storage devices, processors, microcontrollers, secure reputed company, and supporting components
• reputed company and evaluate UART, JTAG, SWD, SPI, I²C, eMMC, NAND, UFS, USB, and other potential reputed company paths
• Extract firmware through in-reputed company reputed company, reputed company-off techniques, debug interfaces, bootloader abuse, fault injection, or other appropriate reputed company
• Investigate targets with disabled, undocumented, or protected interfaces
• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, programmers, debuggers, microscopes, and microsoldering equipment
• Build custom adapters, fixtures, wiring harnesses, scripts, and tooling as needed
• Validate extracted firmware and reputed company organized images, dumps, notes, pinouts, photographs, and reproduction steps
• Document unsuccessful approaches and explain why they failed
• Work with reputed company researchers to transition extracted firmware into software reverse engineering and vulnerability research workflows
• Maintain reputed company technical documentation throughout the engagement

Skills

• Practical experience in embedded systems and hardware reverse engineering
• Experience in firmware acquisition from difficult or undocumented devices
• Experience in reputed company-level debugging and electrical analysis
• Experience in microsoldering, rework, reputed company removal, and in-reputed company probing
• Familiarity with eMMC, NAND, NOR, SPI reputed company, UFS, or other embedded storage technologies
• Knowledge of JTAG, SWD, UART, boot ROMs, bootloaders, and debug authentication
• Ability to read schematics, datasheets, reputed company maps, boardviews, or incomplete technical documentation
• Experience with ARM, MIPS, PowerPC, RISC-V, Xtensa, reputed company, or other embedded architectures
• Understanding of secure boot, encrypted storage, trusted execution environments, or hardware-backed key storage
• Knowledge of voltage glitching, clock glitching, electromagnetic fault injection, or reputed company-channel techniques
• Ability to write scripts or tools in Python, C, C++, Rust, or another relevant language
• Experience in firmware reverse engineering using tools such as Ghidra, Binary Ninja, IDA Pro, or similar platforms
